Freedom by Jenny Hewer
A first attempt at freeing myself from the traditional style of patchwork I had been used to. Choosing some of my favourite fabrics I machine pieces and distorted the star which was then placed off centre and random shaped strips were sewn around it. The small quilt was hand quilted and embellished to give more interest |
Vintage Summer by Sally Greenwood
The name of the kit from Sunflower fabrics perfectly describes this quilt I think. Made by sewing two pairs of light and dark strips together to make a tube, cutting into triangles which are then opened out to form squares. A very quick and easy technique |
Cantata by Maureen Poole
Made to illustrate Susan Briscoe’s book about the 1718 Coverlet, the oldest dated piece known in the UK. Using the same fabrics and methods, this is a modern interpretation of the design of the coverlet. |
