At a group meeting in 2018, the group didn't know what the plan was other than that a small textile piece would develop.
After studying symbols on old maps, modern maps and other maps on the internet, the work began.
Individually, members sketched those marks that intrigued them the most with the restriction that they worked in black, white and grey.
Meanwhile a wide and mysterious length of paper was laid out across several tables in the centre of the room. After dividing into 2 groups, one group used wet and dry media in black, white and grey while the other group collaged using thin papers. The groups then swapped the activity. The large communal design was then cut into A4 sized pieces and each member selected one.
The arbitrary design then became the starting point for a textile piece...……….a selection of work from this workshop was shown at our exhibition in The Pavilion, Llangollen.
