Barbara Howell
A Retrospective

Picture

Barbara makes quilts, wall hangings, panels and bags, using a wide vocabulary of techniques, especially machine embroidery.   She is fascinated with the possibilities of interpreting design ideas by using textiles.

'Different fabrics and threads offer a great variety in terms of texture, pattern and colour but the possibilities for me to elaborate on these are endless! I print, bleach and dye as well as creating texture with fancy stitching and fabric manipulation. Careful examination of my work will reveal that I often use a number of such techniques within one piece of work.'
