Kate Cawley

 Doll maker

Following retirement from teaching and many years doing craft work, Kate attended a course at the WI’s Denman College  and learned how to make dolls ‘properly’.

The fascination has continued from that time, she is now developing her skills by making cloth dolls with ‘personality’!

All the dolls are stuffed with fine polyester stuffing. The time taken to make the dolls varies, depending on clothing and embellishment, a basic doll will probably take about three days to make. Accessories are made from a variety of fabrics, using a variety of techniques, all depending on the doll’s design.
