Tomorrow, Friday, is the last day of the exhibition of Barbara Howell's work. There has been a steady stream of visitors to the Pavilion during the past two weeks and everybody has been delighted to see so much of her work displayed in one place. This have given a true picture of Barbara's depth of expertise and skill.
Many of the stewards have their favourites and mine is still the Marble Floor which was made as a result of a Quilters' Guild challenge in 1991 using fabric 'offered' by Skopos, a Yorkshire textile company. The smell of the fire retardant and rough upholstery texture of the fabric were quite a challenge!. Barbara rose to this challenge in her usual 'can do' fashion.
Don't forget that the Cestrian Quilters exhibition continues at The Museum and Art Gallery in Parade Street until 5th March. It is worth a visit to see the display of quilts by this talented group and also to see the River Dee in full glorious flow. Plenty of nearby eateries too!
The snowdrops at Llantysilio church are stunning. Nearest postcode is LL20 8DB.
If anybody has an image of these snowdrops I would love to have it please.
And don't forget that the nearby Aqueduct at Pontcysyllte is now a designated World Heritage Site. http://www.pontcysyllte-aqueduct.co.uk/
