"When it's gone, it's gone!" Is more often seen in shops offering bargains. Today it applies to the workshops at Llangollen on Saturday 8th Feb with Dilys Fronks and Linda Paris.

The time is getting nearer - we open next Tuesday!
Don't forget that if you are worried about the weather in the Llangollen area there is a link to the BBC weather site on the home page.
I have heard today from Rob Howell (who edited the YQ Newsletter in the early 90s) that he has found a complete set of Journal Quilts for 2010 which are amongst the last works made by his Mother. I do not know if they were ever displayed anywhere but we shall be showing them at Quiltfest next month.
Today - so far, anyway - has been a good day! Three small hangings have arrived from Dieuwke Philpott who is one of the artists showing in the "Going Dutch" part of the Pavilion exhibition and then I went to Llangollen armed with supplies of flyers. Got a warm welcome from the staff in the Tourist Office, the library and the Pavilion and also from the volunteers in the Museum/ Gallery where Cestrian Quilters are to be exhibiting from 5th Feb - 5th March.
Quiltfest proper is open for only 11 days this year from 4th - 14th February. Some Bad Fairy has arranged it that the Quilting event in Greater Manchester clashes with our Workshop day on the 8th and the Trading Day on the 9th. Choices will have to be made!
Compared with so many parts of the country, to say nothing of other countries, North East Wales has emerged relatively unscathed up to this point in time. For any who have not visited previously, the A5, a Roman road originally, passes through the town making it very accessible from all parts of the UK.
We are seeking stewards for this event and would be very grateful if you could come along to help. This is a very rewarding way to spend a day: admiring Barbara's exciting work, talking to quilters to share ideas and thoughts and sharing your passion with non quilters.
You are welcome to bring some of your own sewing to do when it goes quiet - people always love to see what others are doing and it's a lovely way to spend a day with like minded people away from the phone and other household interruptions.

We have managed to winkle Dilys out of retirement for a one time only workshop so make the most of it as it may possibly be her last! Workshop details here
Parcels containing Dutch quilts are beginning to arrive and Val is getting excited about opening them! Bundles of colour to brighten up this dull and wet weather.
Yes I know, we have been rather remiss about updating this blog. Val and I were about to make arrangements to visit Barbara to decide which quilts we would show at the exhibition when we heard the very sad news that she had passed away. Following talks with Barbara's son Rob we decided to go ahead and to make this a true celebration of her work.
We have published details of the first workshop: String of Diamonds to be taught by Dilys Fronks who is a very well known local, national and international quilter and teacher - we feel sure you will enjoy her workshop. Details of workshop by Linda Paris will hopefully be confirmed tomorrow.
I have added a link to BBC weather in the Llangollen area which can be found on the home page. This will hopefully be useful should the snow threaten us.
So, put the Quiltfest dates in your diary - we will be open 4 weeks tomorrow!
